Gaines had an easy night of work on
Friday, July 8, 2005 as she took on
another local opponent, Amanda Hilton, at Harrah's Casino in Kansas City.
Gaines landed numerous power punches, right hand-left hook combos; Hilton
tried to land back to no avail. Hilton kept turning her shoulders sideways
and the ref warned her not turn her back a number of times in the first
minute. Then, just 1 1/2 minutes into the fight Hilton completely turned
around and faced the ropes, forcing the ref to stop the action.
"I am thankful for the win and that we both stayed safe," said Sharon, "but I
look forward to stiffer competition. I had another opponent originally
named, but no one could locate her the week of the fight. They found someone
else and she weighed in way too heavy. Finally, Hilton came in last minute
to make the bout happen. I am thankful she took it and give her credit for
having the guts to get in the ring, but it was not a great match for me.
She obviously had no experience."
