This was a frustrating loss for Gaines. She went in to the fight well prepared, but was not able to pick up the action until the later rounds, resulting in a unanimous decision loss.
 

"I was promised so many things in this fight. I signed an EIGHT round contract and, the night before, at the weigh in, was told that the promoter had mistakenly had her sign a SIX round contract and if I wanted to fight it would be 6 rounds," Gaines explained.
 

That was just the first of many broken promises.
 

"I was pretty even with her in rounds 1 and 4, but with the crowd on her side and in that atmosphere I knew I'd lose those rounds. Rounds 2 and 3 she definitely had her way...I stayed at the end of her punches and took some punishment," said Gaines.  "I kicked into high gear in round 5 and 6, knocking her down in round 6, but it was too little, too late. I really wish I had those two extra rounds that I had signed up for!!!"
